    1. Maybe. Many if not most children grow up being fascinated by flying things (boys especially) because they are magical and not seen everyday like cars. But that doesn't mean they won't find new things to like that may capture their interest more as they get older that puts aviation and dreaming of flying into a non-interest (video games, girls, cars, music, career...).

I grew up in an aviation environment with a former Air Force fighter pilot father and was surrounded by former military airline pilots in our neighborhood. Many of us kids learned to fly not because we were attracted to it but instead it was our community - not unlike boating which we also did. Several are now professional pilots between airlines and cargo. That said, there were friends I also grew up with in that neighborhood who also built models and made paper airplanes with us and loved airshows but they never took an interest into learning how to fly as they got older.

Finally, as we've seen plenty of examples of in crash reports here at KR, not everyone who even wants to fly is cut out to do it and it doesn't end well. The most common story: a 60+ hour student pilot who crashes. There is even at least one report here of a ~100 hour student solo pilot never signed off. So the point being: not everyone is coordinated enough to fly even if they want to.
