On September 5, 2020, about 1850 eastern daylight time, an American Aviation AA1, N6107L, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at the Newnan Coweta County Airport (CCO), Newnan , Georgia. According to the flight instructor, they were practicing a simulated engine failure in the airport traffic pattern, when the airplane was about 300 ft above ground level, the pilot applied full power to go-around, but the engine did not respond and remained at a low power setting. The flight instructor took control of the airplane, but he was not able to increase engine power and the airplane continued to descend.
