One person was taken to a hospital and another suffered minor injuries in a small plane crash in Long Lake Township Wednesday morning.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said it received a report of a small plane crash at a private grass airstrip located off Oakridge Road at about 11 a.m.

When deputies and Brainerd firefighters arrived, they learned a small plane had come in for a landing and applied too much brake, causing the plane to nosedive at a slow rate of speed.

The pilot suffered a laceration to the forehead and was taken to a hospital by ambulance in unknown condition. The co-pilot suffered minor cuts, the sheriff's office said.

The crash is being investigated by the FAA.
