On July 13, 2019, about 1120 central daylight time, a Stinson 108 airplane, N9651K, collided with terrain near Clinton, Arkansas. The pilot sustained a minor injury and the passengers were seriously injured; the airplane was substantially damaged. The airplane was registered to and operated by a private individual under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight, which operated without a flight plan. The flight was originating from the Clinton Municipal Airport (CCA), Clinton, Arkansas.

According to preliminary information provided by the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot reported that following departure from the airport, the engine lost partial power. The airplane was unable to climb and subsequently collided with trees resulting in substantial damage to the fuselage and wings.

The airplane was retained for further examination.

CLINTON, Arkansas — According to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, a small plane crashed near the intersection of Highway 65 and 16 in Clinton Saturday, July 13th. 

Arkansas Department of Emergency Management received the report at 11:14 a.m. on Saturday. 

The plane was operated by civilians.

Detective Jay Murdoch with the Clinton Police Department said the plane was taking off from the Clinton Municipal Airport when it crashed about a quarter mile from the end of the runway.

There were three people on board; a male pilot, woman, and a girl that's approximately 12 years old.

All three individuals were taken by med-flight to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
