A small plane crash landed on a beach on the northern end of McNeil Island in Pierce County on Saturday.

The pilot was standing on the wing of the plane when he was rescued by Tacoma Police Department's marine services unit.

The plane had about 35 gallons of fuel on board. The fuel was reported not to be leaking.

It's unknown where the plane was headed or came from.

The single occupant plane is an experimental aircraft, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
