The pilot reported that, on final approach at night, while speaking with the control tower, the left horizontal stabilizer struck a tree. The pilot added full power, pitched up, the airplane yawed left, and he resumed final approach. The airplane landed without further incident.

The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left horizontal stabilizer.

The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

DESCRIPTION OF ACCIDENT:  The left propeller struck a treetop before landing at KGNV.

DESCRIPTION OF DAMAGES:  

Damage includes but may not be limited to the following:    

The left Propeller struck a tree. 

There are organic deposits on the blades and paintwork of the nacelle, left outer landing gear door, the left side of the horizontal stabilizer, and the left rudder cap.

The left landing gear door, left horizontal stabilizer, and left rudder cap have damage from impact with the tree.

There is damaged paint on the left nacelle and underside of the wing.
