On August 22, 2017, about 1702 central daylight time, SkyWest Airlines, d.b.a American Eagle flight 3167, a Bombardier CRJ700, N745SK, encountered turbulence in cruise flight at FL360 while maneuvering to avoid convective weather. The flight crew declared an emergency and diverted to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (KSTL), St. Louis, Missouri. Of the 74 passengers and crew members aboard, one passenger received serious injuries and two flight attendants and eight passengers received minor injuries. The airplane was not damaged. The regularly scheduled domestic passenger flight was operating under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 121, from Atlanta International Airport (KATL), Atlanta, Georgia, to Chicago O'Hare International Airport, (KORD), Chicago, Illinois.
