AUSTIN (KXAN) – Two flights bound for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Saturday suffered mechanical trouble, leading to hours-long delays.
Southwest Airlines flight 1511 from Oakland International Airport was forced to turn back and land at Oakland Saturday morning.
The airline says the pilots noticed a possible issue with an engine. The plane turned around and landed safely. Passengers boarded a second aircraft and landed about two hours behind schedule.
American Airlines flight 765 from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport also suffered a small mechanical problem in Phoenix.
The airline says the planes were switched out and the flight continued on to Austin, landing more than three hours late.
