Helicopter requested for motorcycle crash

Crews are on the scene of a priority one motorcycle crash west of Sioux Falls.

According to the scanner, the rider was launched up to 50 feet and had a possible fractured skull near 265th Street and 466th Avenue. The driver was not wearing a helmet.

A helicopter was requested to transport the rider, who was conscious and alert. Another person was transported via ambulance.

Three fire trucks, an ambulance and at least six Minnehaha County Sheriff or Highway Patrol vehicles were on the scene.

The motorcycle appeared to have heavy damage, with the seat laying feet away from the rest of the motorcycle.

Crews were almost done cleaning up the scene around 7:15 p.m.
