A light aircraft made a forced landing on Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape on Saturday.

The NSRI said the Cessna was believed to have suffered engine failure while flying over Keurbooms Lagoon on a pilot training flight from George Airport.

"Two men were onboard the aircraft‚ the flight instructor and student pilot‚ and they were not injured‚" the NSRI said.

It said the Civil Aviation Authority would investigate the incident‚ which happened shortly after midday.

The NSRI also said two children vanished on Saturday while swimming between Bay Hall and Pelican Beach‚ Richards Bay.

"It appears that an ambulance service had been activated to the drowning accident only at least half an hour after the incident had taken place‚" it said.

"Only once they arrived on the scene to find that there were two children missing in the water they then activated sea rescue for assistance."
