A light plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Geraldton, about 400 kilometres north of Perth.
The single-engine Cessna was seen billowing smoke and losing altitude soon after taking off from the Geraldton Airport just after 6:30 pm.
The 27-year-old pilot was forced to land in a paddock.
He and his 25-year-old female passenger escaped unhurt.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it was awaiting more information before deciding if it will investigate the incident.
