Piper PA-28-181 Warrior, N9297N, Aircraft Guaranty Corp Trustee: Incident occurred November 20, 2015 near Senai International Airport, Malaysia
SENAI, Nov 20, 2015:
A trainee pilot was injured after his aircraft force landed at a golf course near the Senai International Airport here today.
It is learnt that the aircraft, identified as a Piper PA-28-181, faced engine problems at a low altitude before the pilot maneuvered it into some palm trees at the Le Grandeur Palm Villa Resort about 2pm.
The Singaporean trainee pilot in his 30s, was believed to have reported an engine problem in his aircraft shortly after taking off from the Senai International Airport.
He requested for an emergency landing from the ground control before the aircraft landed into the golf course.
The trainee pilot is reported to be in stable condition and was rushed to the Temenggung Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for treatment.
There were no casualties reported in the incident.
A spokesperson from the Senai International Airport confirmed that the light aircraft had attempted an emergency landing about 2pm.
“The trainee pilot had earlier reported to have experienced engine problems before requesting for an emergency landing clearance,” said the spokesperson.
A Johor Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson confirmed that they received information about the aircraft emergency landing.
“Fire and Rescue personnel were immediately deployed to the location to assist the victim.
“However, the pilot was already rushed to the hospital when we arrived,” the spokesperson said when contacted.
The spokesperson said the case has been taken over by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and also Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) as it comes under their jurisdiction.
