Kerry Brent Lamberth
Dec. 21, 1952 – Dec. 10, 2014

Sixty-one year old Kerry Lamberth, of Seguin, Texas died of a brain aneurysm on Dec. 10, 2014 while he was on a business trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kerry Lamberth was an incredible man full of love and laughter.  He had no enemies and truly lived every day to the fullest and with purpose.

Kerry was born on Dec. 21, 1952 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.  The third child of G. T. and Myra Nell Lamberth.  Kerry’s childhood was action packed.  His dad owned a machine shop where Kerry learned applied mechanics.  Kerry could fix anything.  In addition to school sanctioned athletics and academics, Kerry became enamored with the water.   When he was very young, he and a friend found an abandoned johnboat with a derelict outboard motor. The two boys cleaned up the boat and worked for days to get the motor running.  Next the boys taught themselves to water ski, which began Kerry’s long association with water sports. When he moved to Seguin in 1995 he became very active in the McQueeney Ski-Bees.  Even after his sixtieth birthday, Kerry was still known to get out on Lake McQueeney and barefoot like a young guy.

When he was sixteen, Kerry received his pilot license.   After high school he attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.  While attending West Texas State he would spend the weekends at his parents’ home in Dumas, Texas and visit his fifteen-year-old sweetheart, Pamela Jean Clark.  The two ran away to Clayton, New Mexico where they were married by a Justice of the Peace on June 4, 1972.

The newlyweds moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Kerry instructed at the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology while he was building flight time and progressing through his own aeronautical ratings including instrument, instructor, instrument instructor, commercial, and air transport pilot.  After Spartan he and Pam moved to Junction City, Kansas where he provided basic pilot training to fledgling U. S. Army pilots at the nearby Fort Riley, Kansas.   Through the years he flew as a corporate pilot and an airline pilot with positions at Ryan Airlines and Braniff Airlines.

Kerry never gave up his passion for instructing.  On the days when he wasn’t flying a Pilatus or King Air, you could find him out at Huber Air Park instructing in a Piper Cub, a Beech Bonanza, or a Cirrus SR-22.  Of course that was if he wasn’t out on the lake teaching his 60-year-old friend or their kid how to water ski.

With this inherent love of children and the water it was only natural that he spent a lot of this time out on the lake teaching his own, or others’ grandchildren how to water ski.  He even had the patience to help another 60-year-old get up on the Air Chair.

He is preceded in death by his father, G. T. Lamberth and brother, Brandon Lamberth. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Lamberth; children, Chris Lamberth and wife Melissa, Tiffany Rasmussen and husband Adam, and Tamara Sanford and husband Lee; grandsons, Rylan and Zane Lamberth; mother, Myra Nell Lamberth; sisters, Candis Kuykendall and husband Kirk, and Terry Kay Dennis and husband Larry; brother-in-law, Howard Clark; sister-in-law, Mary Ida Barnes and husband Gene; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Neil Kibbe officiating. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
