Barn Owl Droppings Happen: Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (KSBA), California

By Nancy Keltner · Santa Barbara Audubon

Here’s another example of our Conservation Science team in action:

We received a call from flight support at the Santa Barbara Airport asking for help with barn owls that had gotten into the hangars and were roosting in the top of the hangars and dropping their droppings onto the airplanes.

The owls are likely coming into the hangars to hunt for rodents.

The recommendation:

Try to seal up the holes where the owls are getting into the hangar and/or clean off the planes.
