ATLANTIC COUNTY -  A global travel alert issued by the United States Department of State has travelers around the world on high alert.

The alert warned of a possible attack in North Africa or the Middle East, however; airports around the world are nevertheless preparing for the worst case scenario. Officials from Atlantic City International Airport say even though they face no direct threat, they plan to remain vigilant, and they expect the same from their passengers.

Kevin Rehmann, Security & Comm. Mgr., SJTA stated during a phone interview Saturday,  "Security officials, including myself had conversation with the Federal Security Director for Atlantic City Airport and the TSA. We're aware of it. There's no threat. There's no direct threat to aviation in general at the Atlantic City Airport. But we're going to remain vigilant and we expect our customers to do that."

As always, officials say if you're traveling and you see something suspicious, make sure to report it.
