Business aviation company Aerodynamics lays off 86 employees

Waterford, Michigan -   Waterford Township-based corporate charter company Aerodynamics Inc. has laid off more than three-fourths of its employees since the beginning of October and plans more layoffs this month, according to a WARN notice released Wednesday.

According to the notice, 86 of the company's 111 employees – including 32 administrative employees, two sales personnel, 31 mechanics, 15 pilots, two flight attendants and four executives – were laid off. The notice marks the reasons for the layoffs as financial trouble, reduced business and that the company had become unprofitable.

The employees were notified of the layoffs Oct. 5 and the final layoffs are expected to come by Dec. 21, according to the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice.

It's unclear how many more employees will be laid off.

The news comes roughly one year after CEO and Chairman Scott Beale acquired the business aviation company at Oakland County International Airport. Beale joined the company after resigning from Kennesaw, Ga.-based FlightWorks Inc., a business jet operator he co-founded in 1994.

Beale resigned from FlightWorks in 2009.

A call to the company was not immediately returned Thursday afternoon.
