Piper Warrior: Aircraft in precautionary landing at Gloucestershire field

Thursday, April 19, 2012

A pilot had to make a precautionary landing in a Gloucestershire field this morning.

The four seater Piper Warrior single engine training craft, made the emergency landing on farm land just off the A435 on the outskirts of Charlton Kings.

Emergency services attended, the pilot, a 53-year-old man from Hertfordshire, was not injured and there was no damage to the aircraft.

Initial investigations are being carried out by police who will then hand their findings to the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB).

Arrangements are now being made to fly the aircraft back to Gloucestershire airport.

Initial reports suggested the aircraft was a Spitfire but this has now been officially discounted..
