Whipping Winds Result In Numerous Flight Delays

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Many flights were grounded going in and out of the Albuquerque International Sunport because of high winds on Sunday.

Air travel has been at a standstill since Sunday morning, which is certainly bad news for all the NCAA tournament fans that came to the city for this week's games.

Nearly every flight was delayed or cancelled on Sunday afternoon, thanks to the potential dangerous combination of whipping winds and zero visibility.

Sunport spokesman Dan Jiron said there is some hope for evening flights.

"Things look to be improving now, hopefully by later afternoon and into the evening we'll be able to resume operations but really not a whole lot is happening right now," Jiron said.
