Saturday night, at about 8:30, Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Main Road and Highway 17, in reference to a Air Methods Lifenet SC helicopter making an emergency landing due to mechanical concerns.
Officials say the helicopter was set down in a field beside the Publix at Main Road and Highway 17 in West Ashley.
No damage was sustained to the helicopter and the crew on board were not injured.
A patient on board was transported from the scene via EMS to a local hospital.
