Aircraft canopy crashes in agricultural field in Nashik

Nashik, Nov 12 (PTI) An aircraft canopy fell in an agricultural field near Khadak-Sukene village in the district, police said today. The canopy, which is the transparent enclosure over the cockpit of some types of aircraft, fell near Khadak-Sukene village in Dindori tehsil yesterday afternoon, they said, adding it was not known whether the enclosure fell apart from a fighter-aircraft or any other type of aircraft.

According to eye witness Sanjay Aware, the canopy crashed in the agriculture field following which the local farmers informed the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) officials who rushed to the spot and seized it. He also added that no one was injured in the freak incident. However, HAL General Manager (Overhaul Aircraft Division) B K Pradhan told PTI today that the canopy belonged to another aircraft and not of a fighter aircraft. Local police informed that further investigations are on in the incident.
