Board Of Control Moves Forward With Fence At Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport (KMFD), Mansfield, Ohio

The Mansfield Board of Control is moving forward with the construction of a wildlife fence at Mansfield Lahm Airport.

This week, the board finally received the funds they applied for in the spring from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The wildlife fence will be constructed by Stantec Consulting, a professional design and consulting service, out of Columbus, Ohio.

Mansfield City Engineer Jim DeSanto says the purpose of the fence is to keep wildlife out of the safety areas at the airport.

Construction on the fence is expected to begin within the next few weeks.

The total amount of funds totaled $1,094,000.00.

95-percent of the project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, while the remaining 5-percent is from a state grant.
