  1. I'm the owner/pilot of this aircraft. I experienced severe loss of power and extreme vibration after an exhaust valve broke off inside the cylinder. I was at 1000' AGL and there was a long road below me without obstructions. Aircraft was trailered to a local airport that night, new engine was purchased and installed by January 2023, and the aircraft flew it's first post-incident cross country down to Alabama in February 2023.

    The phase of flight of engine failure was not takeoff, it was during cruise. I had planned to practice grass runway operations as I was planning on heading to my cousin's cabin and landing on a short grass runway the following day.
