HEADLAND, Alabama (WDHN) — One person is injured after a plane crashed at the Headland Municipal Airport.

A single-engine plane was overturned when first responders arrived around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday.

The pilot who wished not to be identified tells WDHN news that he experienced mechanical failure on take-off.

The plane was trying to take off and had engine trouble causing the wing to hit the ground and flip the plane.

The pilot received cuts and bruises to his arms, while a female passenger was transported to Southeast Health with injuries, which are not life-threatening.

The pilot says his plane is a Stinson-Voyager and he that he has been in contact with federal authorities concerning the incident.

He would not elaborate whether the Federal Aviation Administration or NTSB would send a team down to investigate.
