  1. There are three runways at that airfield all of which are capable of handling L-39 ops (4,600', 5,000', 5,800'). Runway 12/30 is the 5,800' one and has the EMAS. Either hydraulics were lost and hence brakes or the pilot landed long and couldn't get it stopped. Considering the L-39 is both notorious for being a "doctor killer" as well as being a maintenance hog, I'm betting even money on which this event winds up being.

  2. Pilot at my airport (3950ft runway) over ran the runway because of brakes.
