On May 29, 2021, about 1106 mountain daylight time, a Weston James Glasair II S FT airplane, N8176J, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident at near Darby, Montana. The pilot and the passenger sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

The pilot was at cruise altitude of 4,000 ft above ground level when he heard and observed low oil pressure warnings. The pilot initiated an emergency descent and attempted to land on a private grass strip. As he approached the ground, the pilot realized he was too fast and initiated a go around. The left wing tip contacted the ground during the go around and the airplane subsequently nosed over.
