On June 16, 2021, about 1730 central daylight time, amateur-built Cavalon gyroplane, N46JS, was substantially damage when it was involved in an accident near Collinsville, Texas. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The gyroplane was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.
According to a statement provided by the pilot, he had departed the North Texas Regional Airport (KGYI), Denison, Texas, about 1715 and was en route to Weatherford, Texas. While at 2,500 ft, the gyroplane began losing airspeed and altitude. The pilot attempted to restore engine power but was unable to do so. He performed a forced landing to a cow pasture. During the landing, the main rotor system was substantially damaged.
The gyroplane was retained for further examination.
