WALLA WALLA, Washington - Two local couples were taking a small plane to Prosser when they had an emergency and made a lucky landing on Thursday.

These pictures above come to us from the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.

The pilot was landing at the Walla Walla Regional Airport when their landing gear failed.

Quite the scary moment for the passengers, but fortunately, no one was injured.

  1. The photos are odd. The top photo depicts both main gear extended, but not the nose.
The next photo shows the nose extended but the left main appears retracted.
The nose downlock failed and the nose gear retracted?
The prop is torn up = a new engine is likely.

    1. The aircraft slid nose first down the runway. Some of the photos taken and posted in this article were from after personnel were assisting with relocating the aircraft

  2. Just guessing ...

Looks like the same incident in all photos. Look at the details of the prop and location in reference to centerline.

Nose gear fails to extend or collapses ... Put several guys on the tail to raise the nose while someone pulls the nose gear down ... Movement of fluid and now one of the mains collapse.

    But just a guess.
