On June 29, 2019, about 1500 mountain daylight time, a Rolladen-Schneider LS-4A experimental glider, N7LR landed off field about 10 miles south southwest of the Moriarty Municipal Airport, (0E0), Moriarty, New Mexico, and sustained minor damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan had been filed for the local flight that departed 0E0 about 1340.

The glider was the subject of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Alert Notification (ALNOT), after the airport manager reported that the pilot had failed to return from his flight. Subsequently, the glider was located in a field a few hours later.

A postaccident examination of the accident site by a FAA inspector revealed that all major structural components and primary flight controls of the glider were intact. Flight control continuity from the cockpit was established. The glider came to rest upright in a field with heavy vegetation. The pilot remained strapped in his seat with the canopy closed and was observed to have sustained only minor external injures.
