On June 30th at 16:41, Grand County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch was notified of an overdue plane with two individuals. The aircraft left Moab, Utah at approximately 8:00 am and was expected back by noon, but did not return.

UPDATE* At approximately 7:55 am this morning, an aircraft matching the description of the missing plane was located on the northern end of San Juan County. Ground crews are currently in route to confirm this is the aircraft that was reported missing. All volunteer pilots and planes are asked to cease search activities at this time.

UPDATE* At 9:20 am July 1st, crews have confirmed that the missing plane has been found. Department of Public Safety personnel have hiked to the airplane and confirmed the two individuals on board are deceased, Moab resident Kevin Carroll, 53, and Lindon resident Jay Camberlango, 42.

(KUTV) — UPDATE: (July 1, 9:26 a.m.) -- Kevin Carroll, 53 of Moab, and Jay Camberlango, 42 of Lindon, died after an aircraft crashed in the Canyonlands overlook area, Chief Deputy Alan Freestone with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the plane to crash.

The plane was reported missing on Sunday.

An aircraft matching the description of the missing plane was located at the northern end of San Juan County at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Monday.

All volunteer pilots and planes are asked to cease their search efforts at this time.



(KUTV) -- After a small plane with two occupants didn't return to Moab, the Grand County Sheriff's Office and other officials will continue their search for the missing aircraft on Monday morning.

The plane left at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday and was expected back by noon, according to a Facebook post published by the Grand County Sheriff's Office.

When the plane didn't return, volunteers in privates planes searched the area until dark.

The Department of Public Safety will begin searching for the plane again on Monday morning.

Air restrictions in the area may be imposed, according to the Facebook post.
