On January 29, 2016, about 0200 eastern standard time, a runway incursion occurred on runway 10L at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when an Airbus A320, registration N587NK, operating as Spirit Airlines flight 371 (NKS371) was cleared for takeoff while an airport maintenance vehicle "Truck54" was on the runway near taxiway "D." The air traffic controller received an Airport Surface Detection System Model X (ASDE-X) alert and canceled the takeoff clearance, and the crew of NKS371 rejected the takeoff. NKS371 was operating under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 121 as a regularly scheduled flight to Rafael Hernández Airport, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. There was no damage to the airplane or maintenance vehicle and no injuries were reported. Night visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the incident.
