Did This Woman's Cleavage Get Her Kicked Off a Spirit Airlines Flight?

A woman got kicked off a Spirit Airlines flight from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale on Sunday . . . and she says it's because she was showing too much cleavage. And she HELPFULLY provided a photo to show EXACTLY how much of her breasts were showing out of her sweater the time.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A South Florida woman claims she was kicked off a Spirit Airlines flight from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale because of the way she was dressed.

"It's not even about money. I was really embarrassed," the woman, who didn’t want to be named, said in a telephone interview with Local 10 News.

At least two passengers took to Facebook after the incident and posted that the flight attendants told the woman "her bosom was too exposed."

Another passenger, who didn't know the woman, was also removed from that flight Sunday after she stepped in to defend the woman.

Spirit claims a flight attendant made the suggestion to cover up, but that's not why the woman was told to leave.

"Nobody was taken off a plane because of cleavage," Spirit spokesman Paul Berry said. "People are taken off of planes because of their behavior."

Berry said the woman was intoxicated and a flight attendant spoke to her about it.

"The flight attendant made that decision, and as she was leaving, she said, 'By the way, you might want to cover up.' It was more of a personal statement to her," Berry said.

Donna Prieto said her daughter was "humiliated" on the flight.

She and some witnesses said the woman used a large coat to cover up, cried and then some passengers started to complain.

The woman, friend and another passenger were later asked to leave the plane. The woman was rebooked on another. Berry said Spirit plans on getting in touch with her.

  1. Lets not confuse the issue. You were ejected because your behavior was unacceptable because of drunkness. Who in their right mind boards an aircraft drunk -and- runs their mouth to the point of attracting adverse attention?

But, to spite the attendant and the carrier, plus to confuse matters you decided to post your boobie shot to the whole world to for inspection. Now, as an astute observer of these matters I suggest you could make a better choice on bra fit for those saggy puppies and not embarass yourself so badly.

I rate these 3 on a scale of 10. Other comments appreciated.

  3. Of Kenda, I love his narrations and dry humor which tells it like it is.

  4. I would just like to say my sister is innocent in this whole ordeal. The flight attendants bullied her and wrongfully ejected her from the plane. I am tired of people saying she was drunk. Also if she was so drunk they should have kicked her off when they first came to her.

  5. Misrepresentation: - "Its not even about the money".

Challenge - If this is not about the money then why were (estimated several hours) devoted to calling in the news media after a second booking to "investigate" and the authorization to photograph and publish "evidence" as a distraction to the attendant's observation of drunkenness (or disorderly something). Things ramped-up considerably when Mom got involved and had her name attached to the story.

Conclusion - Mom wants money or compensation of some sort.

Fact - At this point no one will ever know now if the woman was drunk. In 8 hours the intoxication is gone. If the mother wanted to prove the daughter was [not drunk] then the mother would have hired a smart lawyer (did she?) who would have submitted a sobriety test within 8 hours of the incident to prove sobriety. Forgotten detail here?

Suggestion - Mom better ask for more money than then lawyer costs.

Fact - The airlines do not submit sobriety checks to passengers before boarding. They do not weigh you or examine you to determine if you have the flu either. In fact, as long as you can more or less walk a straight line, behave yourself and do not reek of alcohol and/or cause discomfort to other passengers you can go along for the ride. In fact, if you cannot walk they will wheel you on/off free of charge. As long as you are pleasant they will make you as comfortable as the price of your ticket and design of the aircraft allows.

Advice - Perhaps Mom should have escorted daughter to manage emotional state.

Fact - Do not challenge a flight attendant or any crew member. The first time they perceive a problem they advise you to calm down, clear it up or cover it up. That includes foul language, looking at porn, or inappropriate touching other passengers, consensual or not. The second time they direct you back to the boarding gate. If in the air they will isolate you (and restrain if necessary) and find the nearest suitable airport to make a stop just for your benefit where a deputy will meet you. Additional billing follows later. That goes for friends, family and voluntary participants too.

Reality - Flying is not about your rules. It is about their rules.

Summary - No one wins here. Mom is not going get any money in excess of lawyers fees. The carrier is not going to change policy though they might take a hit in ratings. The adverse cost to the carrier is already built into [our ticket price] so [we all paid for it]. The cleavage photo (though voluntary) is public record and should have never had additional "exposure" here or otherwise. There is nothing to be proud of and no one made any friends.

Everyone has an opinion. Time to move on.

  6. She was kicked of because she was overexposed and drunk. Her breasts are in poor shape for 21. She should invest in undergarments. Her over exposure has caused severe drooping.... udderly terrible.

  7. She needs a Sheep Dog Bra to round them up and point them in the right direction.
