Incident occurred September 24, 2016 near Langley Regional Airport, British Columbia

Everyone walked away uninjured from an emergency landing of a helicopter in a farmer's field in Langley late Saturday afternoon.

Mounties aren't calling it a crash, but rather an aeronautical incident," where a homemade and "experimental" rotorcraft set down in a field close to the Langley Regional Airport at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday evening, said Langley RCMP Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill.

She confirmed the helicopter ended up on its side.

The helicopter was operated by a 55-year-old Langley man, and he had his wife aboard as the sole passenger.

"Amazingly, neither suffered any injuries and were cleared by Emergency Health Services," Mulvihill explained.

A small amount of fuel did leak from the helicopter, but there were no other people or property affected by the accident, she added, noting that the Transportation Safety Board was advised, but did not attend the scene.

The pilot, and owner, of the helicopter will be following up with the TSB next week, Mulvihill said, noting that officers spoke with witnesses and ahve concluded their investigation.
