The Air Force has been given an extra month, until late April, to respond to a federal lawsuit alleging that the service failed to adequately study the environmental effects of expanding a military training program at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.Three Tucson residents filed the lawsuit Jan. 22, challenging the Air Force’s finding last year that the expansion of its Total Force Training program would create “no significant impact” and asking the court to order a detailed environmental impact statement.
The Air Force said it needed more time to file a detailed response.
U.S. District Court Magistrate Jacqueline Rateau approved a stipulation between the parties on March 15, shifting the deadline for the Air Force’s initial response form March 25 to April 25.
