Air taxi to begin service in Madhya Pradesh on world tourism day

BHOPAL: World Tourism Day will see the re-launch of air taxi service operation in Madhya Pradesh. A private airline's nine-seater plane will connect 11 cities in Madhya Pradesh apart from Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Agra.

A total of 121 weekly flights have been planned, said Supreme Aviation president Ammeet Agarwal at a press conference here on Wednesday. The private airlines will begin operations in MP with two Cessna Grand Caravan and first of the two planes will arrive in Indore on Thursday.

A single passenger will be permitted a baggage of 10kg on the single-engine plane. Expected price of ticket will vary from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000, he said. The airline has entered into a venture with MP Tourism for five years. It would be allowed free access to state government's airports at Satna, Bandhavgarh and Kanha.

"We are in it for the long run. We will add up to four Caravans and expand our network to connect Raipur and Surat," he said. The company expects a turnover of Rs 20 crore, including approximately Rs 12 crore annual subsidy from state government.
