Kayenta Airport (0V7) on Navajo Nation gets federal grant to build storage facility

KAYENTA, Arizona — A small airport on the Navajo Nation has been awarded a federal grant for a building to protect equipment from harsh weather.

U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick announced the funding Thursday to the Kayenta Airport. The nearly $443,000 grant comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation but is paid out by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airport is owned by the Kayenta Township, the only incorporated community on the reservation. It will use the funds for a 1,440-square-foot building to store airport equipment.
