Deceased pilot's mother to take legal step: Cessna 152, Bangladesh Flying Academy, S2-ADI

Tamanna Rahman

Rohana Yasmin, mother of trainee female pilot Tamanna Rahman who was killed in plane crash on Wednesday, said her family will sue Bangladesh Flying Academy and Civil Aviation for using a faulty aircraft in training.

The bereaved mother claimed on Thursday that her daughter’s tragic end of life was caused by negligence of the authorities.

Tamanna was buried at the family graveyard at Kanaiya in Gazipur on Thursday evening following her namaz-e-janaza at Kanaiya Madrasha ground after Asr prayers. Tamanna’s first janaza was held near her house at Nikunja-2 in the capital.

Rohana Yasmin said her daughter cried for help but no one came forward. She died in the burning cockpit of the training aircraft, the mother pointed out.

She alleged that Tamanna was given a faulty aircraft as others were jealous of her good performance.

The training aircraft caught fire at the Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi while taking off around 2:00pm on Wednesday, leaving Tamanna dead on the spot and flight instructor Syed Kamal injured with 50 percent burns.
