HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department has cited a pilot who towed an aerial banner over Oahu Friday.
The pilot flies for Aerial Banners North, a mainland-based company that claims a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration permits it to legally fly aerial banners in Hawaii despite county ordinances that prohibit the practice.
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has urged the FAA to revoke Aerial Banner North's certificate of waiver.
ABN's attorney said he has yet to see the citation.
The company had planned to tow a banner this weekend that reads "God Bless America."
