Washington County Airport (KAFJ) closed until Tuesday, June 3rd

The Washington County Airport is closed until 7 a.m. Tuesday due to runway paving.

Scott Gray, airport executive director, said, “We have lighted Xs that flash all day and all night to warn pilots of the runway closure,” Gray said.

Although the closure is noted on the Federal Aviation Administration NOTAM website, the white lights serve as a notice to aviators who haven’t checked with the FAA or airport, which straddles North Franklin and South Franklin townships.

Crews are working from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., although they were hampered Tuesday by rain storms.
