104th Fighter Wing jets roar across New England: It was all part of the 104th fighter wing's standard weekend drill, a homeland defense exercise

WESTFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – During the past two days, the roar of F-15 Jets from Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield may have caught your attention.

The planes went streaking through the skies.

It was all part of the 104th fighter wing’s standard weekend drill, a homeland defense exercise.

Senior Master Sgt. Robert Sabonis of the 104th fighter wing told 22News they didn’t want to alarm people in the area who might have been startled by the increased air activity.

Not only did the F-15′s cover ground here in the Pioneer Valley, but they also flew over Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York state.
