Pilot dies after plane makes emergency landing at Boise Airport

BOISE -- A Boeing 737 made an emergency landing in Boise Thursday night after the pilot reportedly had a heart attack. According to a St. Alphonsus spokesperson, the pilot died. 
 
The plane landed at the Boise Airport around 8 pm, according to Patti Miller, Boise Airport spokeswoman.

All 161 passengers were taken off the plane. Paramedics boarded the flight and removed the pilot from the Boeing 737 who was then taken to an area hospital.

Passengers eventually made it to Seattle after a pilot was flown in from San Francisco to continue the flight.

Once it landed at Sea-Tac, passengers told our sister station crew members informed them they were diverted to Boise because the pilot had a heart attack.

SEATTLE -- A Thursday night flight from Houston to Seattle was forced to land in Boise after its pilot suffered an apparent heart attack.

United flight 1603 was scheduled to land in Seattle at 8:07 p.m., but was diverted to Boise at roughly 7 p.m., according to Boise Airport spokeswoman Patti Miller

A passenger on the flight said a crew member made an in-flight announcement on the loudspeaker asking if anyone on board was a physician.

In a conversation to air traffic control, a member of the United crew said, "We got a man down, chest compressions going on right now. I'm not sure too much right now."

The Boeing 737 landed safely and the pilot was taken to a local hospital, according to United spokesperson Christen David. His condition is not known.

The 161 passengers and six crew members remained in Boise for several hours while United officials worked to find another pilot.

Officials eventually found a replacement captain and passengers were scheduled to arrive in Seattle at roughly 11:45 p.m.
