Jasper — A student pilot flying cross-country began her flight in Jacksonville and was making her way to the Suwannee County Airport when she crashed her plane into a Hamilton County field, Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid said.

Mao Borui, 25, of New Jersey, was not seriously injured in the crash, according to Reid. In fact, she was said to have been walking around following the wreck.

Reid said Borui was a student pilot and was leaving Jacksonville to go on a cross-country flight when she hit bad weather in Hamilton County.

The single-engine plane came to a crash landing with its nose on the ground and its tail in the air. It crashed into a field about one mile south of I-75 near the Suwannee River around 10:40 a.m. Monday morning.

Reid said Borui did a "good job" controlling the plane to the ground. Otherwise, the crash could have been a lot worse.

Borui was the only occupant in the aircraft.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane is registered to Jacksonville Flight Training LLC out of Jacksonville.

The plane is a 1996 Zenair Ltd. CH 2000 fixed wing single-engine.

According to Hamilton County Sheriff J Harrell Reid, a student pilot was flying from Jacksonville to the Suwannee Airport when she had to make an emergency landing. 25-year-old Mao Borui crash landed in an open field off of U.S. 129 between Jasper, FL and Live Oak, FL.

Reid says the single engine Alarus ‘did a flip’ and the nose of the plane broke, but Borui was able to walk away from the craft unharmed. The accident happened around 10:30 Monday morning in Hamilton County, FL. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to what Sheriff Reid is calling a ‘crash landing’. They are now waiting on the Federal Aviation Administration to investigate. Traffic was not impacted by the landing.
