Contract Talks Collapse Between
Allegiant Air and Flight Attendants’ Union
National Mediation Board Asked to Enter Negotiations

Las Vegas -- Today, the Transport Workers Union of America, bargaining agent for six hundred flight attendants at Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air, has asked the federal National Mediation Board to enter into the bargaining process.

“Allegiant is a very unique and successful airline,” said Debra Petersen-Barber, an Allegiant flight attendant and the union’s lead negotiator. “Our union respects the Allegiant difference and we have been able to reach tentative agreements on many issues that will create a better, more fair and efficient airline for both flight attendants and management.  In these negotiations we have successfully addressed difficult issues, yet for easier items like compensation during extended delays and basic union dues deductions,  the company wouldn’t  move.  It is a shame that management is trying to play hardball.”

The Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) represents 200,000 workers and retirees in commercial aviation, public transportation and passenger railroads, including more than 12,000 flight attendants.
