Cessna 152: Aircraft on landing, nose wheel collapse - Shoreham Airport, UK


 


A two-seater aircraft crashed when its nose wheel collapsed after landing at a Sussex airport.

The Cessna 152 crashed at Shoreham Airport just before 15:30 BST.

The plane's 62-year-old pilot, from Lewes, was not injured but was assessed by South East Coast Ambulance staff.

The plane suffered damage to its nose, propeller and undercarriage. The runway is currently closed, but is due to be reopened soon.

The pilot of a two-seater aircraft has had a lucky escape after his plane was damaged as it landed in West Sussex.

The nose wheel on the Cessna 152 collapsed when it landed on the runway at Shoreham Airport just before 3.30pm on Tuesday, a Sussex Police spokeswoman said.

The 62-year-old pilot, from Lewes, East Sussex, was not injured but was assessed by South East Coast Ambulance staff, she said.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue was also called to the airport to help clear up a slight fuel spillage.

The police spokeswoman said: "The plane has suffered damage to its nose, propeller and undercarriage, and the runway is due to be opened soon."
