A
large, low-flying, twin jet aircraft that caught the attention of lots
of people in the Twin Cities on Monday afternoon was making a routine
check of navigation equipment at the Festus Airport.
One
observer who stopped by the Leader Publications office in Festus saw
the plane and said he feared a plane crash was imminent.
Not
to worry, said Steve Vogt, airport manager. Vogt said the FAA (Federal
Aviation Administration) does an airborne check of the equipment every
couple of years.
While the fly-by check was routine, it did prompt some questions.
“We got a lot of calls,” Vogt said.
