  2. Landing gear were still stowed when the altitude reached zero.

  3. His/her insurance will skyrocket. Plus landing with gear-up causes a prop strike and sudden engine stop. So the engine will have to be pulled and torn down w/ IRAN. At least $15K for the engine alone before parts. Then a new prop another $15K. Antennas ripped off the bottom as well.

  4. Reading about gear-up landings over the years, I always wonder if these pilots were ever trained on GUMPS, or ever heard of it. It's hard to believe that pilots flying complex aircraft will inadvertently do a belly landing costing many thousands in damage.

Listen ... I learned to fly in a little fixed-gear C150. On downwind I always said out loud (even to myself) GAS-UNDERCARRAIGE-MIXTURE-PROP-SEAT BELTS. And, later flying complex aircraft that habit paid off.

  5. Sadly distraction and complacency make gear up so common the NTSB doesn't even bother. But still will result in a 709 ride and a record entry from the FAA. Some creative pilots even mix that in with a touch'n go like that twin did back a few years.

  6. Could have been a gear motor issue? Parts to repair are becoming very hard to find as well...
