MARSTON MILLS — A small airplane crashed into trees and underbrush off the runway at Cape Cod Airfield on Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release from the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills fire department.

There was one minor injury for one of the two occupants, Morrison said.

The single-engine airplane was found by firefighters at the end of Runway 23, between the airfield and Race Lane, according to the release.

The occupants got themselves out of the plane on their own. They were walking around at the site of the crash. Both were checked for injuries. Both declined to go to the hospital, the fire department said in the release.

After the crash, the plane was pulled out of the woods and is currently in a hangar, Morrison said.

There was no damage to the runway, he said.

  1. news report was "landing phase ..... off end of Rwy 23." with normal prevailing mid day winds from NNE @ 3-5 on Marstons Mills, MA...
    Runway 5/23 Dimensions: 2035 x 50 ft. / 620 x 15 m.
Acft displayed full flaps in, thus my take, they landed on Rwy 5 (NNE) yet not on the numbers.
