On April 29, 2021, about 1507 eastern daylight time, a near midair collision occurred at the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), St. Petersburg, Florida when an Airbus 319-112, Allegiant Air flight 803, while on initial climb from runway 18 and climbing through about 140 feet, took evasive action to avoid a collision with a Cessna M337B, N370SD, that was crossing midfield over the runway about 300 feet on a right downwind for runway 22. Allegiant Air flight 803 was operated under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 121, and N370SD was operated under Title 14 CFR Part 91. There were no injuries reported from the crew or passengers of either flight, nor damage to the aircraft. Daytime visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the incident.

  1. Seems like the ATC could have improved safety by de-conflicting the timing of the crossing event, based on the skysmasher's incoming track, shown below.
