Union County Sheriff's Office, Monroe, North Carolina 

Deputies are on scene of a fatal helicopter crash in the 4000 block of Belk Mill Road south of Wingate. 

The helicopter was reportedly cropdusting fields when the aircraft became entangled in power lines. 

The pilot was the only occupant onboard.

  1. Dang I really hate to read these fatals on KR with Ag flights. They are helping keep us fed and risking their lives. There does seem to be an alarming amount of power line strikes though the past year or so. The demand for Ag flights is high during these COVID times but I'm hoping it is not related to increased workload demand and pilots coming from other areas not familiar with their current job locations.
