Incident occurred January 13, 2021 at Knox County Regional Airport (KRKD), Owls Head, Maine

OWLS HEAD — An airplane landed safely January 13 at the Knox County Regional Airport, after potential engine problems were detected.

The Beechcraft aircraft from Wiggins Airways was delivering mail for UPS when an engine light activated indicating a problem with one engine, according to Airport Manager Jeremy Shaw.

Fire departments from around the region were notified shortly after 8 a.m., January 13, and sent vehicles and crews.

The plane landed safely a few minutes later.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane.

Shaw said a mechanic from Manchester, New Hampshire, where the airline is based, is on the way to Owls Head to conduct a complete inspection of the engines.
