Monroe Regional Airport (KMLU) temporary daytime closure of runway for maintenance

MONROE, La (News Release) - The Monroe Regional Airport announces the temporary daytime closure of Runway 4/22 will take place April 4th through 6th, 2016, due to maintenance on lighting cables. The closure will be for daytime only.

The airport will begin work on Runway 4/22, its main runway, on April 4, 2016. It will be necessary for the airport to close the runway to expedite the completion of the work. Each day, the runway will close from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST. The airfield lighting will be operational every evening before lights are required.

According to Richard Nelson, Director of Operations, “The construction will affect everyone in the airport . . . passengers and tenants. This project could not be prolonged and the weather is good to complete the project. As soon as repairs are completed, Runway 4/22 will re-open immediately”.

For the airlines, this project means there will be weight restrictions on all flights, causing fewer passengers on every flight.
